Next time when an IITian tells you “chill guys , the tag doesn’t really matter” just don’t believe him. He may be saying this to not let you get demotivated but the fact that the tag isn’t just a tag its a whole brand doesn’t really change.

I think one of the primary reasons why more than a million students appear for the much competitive Joint Entrance Exam is because the tag , that feeling of being called an IITian and the pride and prestige associated with it is not just something which is easily achievable. Being the best of the best in the country does give you a edge over every non-IITian. When you graduate from an IIT no matter what you learnt there and how much knowledge you have , people , companies , society , everyone is going to look at you with a lot of respect. Companies will die to hire you, crave to pay you what you ask for because of your knowledge but more so because of that tag.

Being in the premier institutes of the country gives you a lot of exposure. It lets you meet people from different culture , different philosophies , different vision under the same shed. The amount of exposure one gets at the IITs is just unparalleled . With a aim to grab one of the highest packages , many step out of there with a jumbo offer , while some also remain jobless. But CTC must not be a measure of someone’s smartness and intelligence and hard work , right? No , wrong. Well we live in a society where your annual salary will determine your image and not your behaviour.

People from IITs achieve great heights in life , not because they are IITians but because they’re smart and courageous , to have not only faced one of the most competitive exams in the world but also to have cracked it is no small feat and they do deserve the tag and brand value they get. The IIT tag , no matter what someone says does put you up asa hundred times better person than when you would have been from a less reputed college.

In conclusion may I say that if someone says from the next time , “ IIT tag doesn’t matter” , well stand up and should aloud — “ hell yeah it does!” .
